Alice Goffman is the recipient of the American Sociological Association's 2011 Dissertation Award

Alice Goffman (Cohort 17 — Michigan Alumni List) 

is the recipient of the American Sociological Association's 2011 Dissertation Award that honors the best Ph.D. dissertation from among those submitted by advisors and mentors in the discipline.

Daniel P. Carpenter is the recipient of the Midwest Political Science Association's 2011 Herbert Simon Award

Daniel P. Carpenter (Cohort 5 — Michigan Alumni List) 

is the recipient of the Midwest Political Science Association's 2011 Herbert Simon Award for his career scientific contributions to the study of public administration. In addition, he has been appointed to the National Academy of Sciences (Institute of Medicine) Committee on Scientific Standards for Studies on Reduced Risk Tobacco Products.

Dr. Carpenter is Allie S. Freed Professor of Government in the Department of Government at Harvard University
