is Professor of Health Policy and Management, School of Public Health, University of California, Berkeley.  She holds a doctoral degree in sociology from Stanford University, and has published widely in sociology and public health journals. Dr. Bloom is principal investigator for a number of research grants.  Her research interests include studies of educational support groups for young women with breast cancer; breast and cervical cancer intervention among low income and minority women; quality of life of cancer survivors, and interventions to improve the breast health of Afghan women.  Dr. Bloom is on the Board of Directors of the Northern California Cancer Center. She is also the Evaluation Chair for the State of California Breast and Cervical Cancer Advisory Committee, the Co-Chair of the research, surveillance, evaluation Committee for the Dialogue for Cancer in California, and is associated with the Institute of Industrial Relations.
