is Chair and Professor of Political Science at Brown University. His most recent book, The Heart of Power: Health and Politics in the Oval Office (U. California, 2009) was featured in a front page review in The New York Times Book Review. His Hellfire Nation: The Politics of Sin in American History (Yale University Press, 2003), was named book of the month by the History News Network and was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize. His Democratic Wish: Popular Participation and the Limits of American Government (Basic Books, 1990, Yale, 1998) won the American Political Science Association's 1991 Gladys Kammerer Award for the best book on the United States and was named a "notable book of 1991" by the New York Times. Dr. Morone co-editedHealth Politics and Policy (Cengage, 2008) Healthy, Wealthy and Fair (Oxford University Press, 2005) andThe Politics of Health Care Reform (Duke University Press, 1994). He has received two Robert Wood Johnson Investigator Awards and has written more than one hundred essays on politics, history, and social policy.
